COLOR

Creating new colors and gradients is fairly straight forward. Access the color/gradient panels from the Window menu.

To create a new color, either move the cursor around in the Color Mixer’s spectrum until you find the hue you’re interested in, or choose a color from the Color Swatches panel.

Or, use the fill and/or stroke popup swatches panel(s) at the bottom of the tool bar.

If you’re using the Color Mixer, you may need to change the intensity by moving the little triangle at the right of the color value bar to adjust it.

You can also adjust the alpha (transparency) of the color using the slider.

Creating a new gradient is also fairly simple. Follow the same steps for creating a new color, only make sure you have first clicked on one of the color tabs in the gradient slider before setting a new color. Repeat these steps for each tab in your gradient. Add new tabs by clicking below the gradient bar.

Save new colors and gradients by choosing “add swatch” from the panel’s options menu.

Modifying gradients is easy, once you figure out how to do it.

Draw the object and fill it with the desired gradient. Then click on the modify gradient icon. Click in your gradient shape to select it.

Once that’s done, your object will have two bars, one on either edge, indicating the start and end points of the gradient, as well as a circle representing the midpoint.

To rotate a linear gradient, click on the circle at one side of the black bar and drag it to the desired rotation.

To expand or contract a gradient use the little box to move one of the edges in or out as desired.

To reshape a radial gradient, grab the square icon and move it in or out.

To rotate it, grab the bottom circle and drag it around.

To set a new center point for a radial gradient, click on the center point and drag it to a new location.

To scale the size of a radial gradient, use the circle icon just under the box.
